Jeff Clare, Ph.D.

Jeff Clare has over 20 years experience in the Pharmaceutical industry including 14 years in ion channel drug discovery. He obtained his PhD from the University of Kent, and then spent 5 years studying gene expression mechanisms used by retrotransposable elements, first at UMIST (Manchester) and then University of Connecticut.
He then joined Wellcome Biotech, developing expression systems for recombinant subunit vaccine antigens and biopharmaceuticals, before transferring to Wellcome Research Laboratories to initiate their efforts on ion channel cloning and expression. Subsequently at GlaxoWellcome and then GlaxoSmithKline, as Head of Ion Channel Gene Expression, he was engaged in numerous drug discovery and research projects for a wide variety of channels. In his current role at Millipore he is responsible for development of ion channel products and services at Millipore in Cambridge, UK.
